CrossFit Games 2021 are nearing, and many CrossFit Games 2021 participants are extremely excited. Besides the usual competitions like the men's, women's events will also take place. We all know about the Reebok's equipment, Pegboard contest, cutting system, and women's event. However, we don't know much. Keep reading to find out! Don't forget the CrossFit news page to get the latest information about the competition.

The competition for women

The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Jonne Koski won in the first event. Koski won the overall competition after maintaining her lead all the way. Tall and Eramo O'Connell finished second and third, respectively. It was the first Games event by women. The women's side wanted to complete the podium.

The women's competition is filled with top-level athletes. Nine athletes are represented in the field, including a young Australian powerhouse who won last year's competition. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Andrea Nisler was also a rising star. In 2018, she competed in team division and came in third in the United States. She finished fifteenth in 2020. Aside from these athletes, the Women’s competition will also include a newcomer, Sara Sigmundsdottir, an Icelandan competitor, who won first place at the World Crossfit Games earlier.

Pegboard contest

Pegboard contest at Crossfit Games 2121 was a new concept. Along with dumbbell overhead squats and double-unders, it was included in the Games' summer Olympic programme. Toomey-Orr, who won 30 games events, holds the record of most wins in one Games event. Sager won Event 11 men's and received his third Games win. There were many ties throughout the contest, but ToomeyOrr was the dominant force that won the contest.

CrossFit Games is a training program that focuses on 10 general fitness skills. These include strength, flexibility, power and speed as well as cardiovascular endurance. Pegboard competition tests competitors' grip strength, coordination, and speed. The athletes compete on a scale by holding two wooden pegs between their hands. The competition was intense, and the athletes left feeling satisfied after completing their Pegboard.

Cutting system

CrossFit Games uses a cutting system to judge individual competition. This is not as extreme as past Games cuts, but it is very different this year. The competition has 15 individual events. Therefore, it's likely that the first cut of 30 athletes will occur after the seventh or eight event. One question that remains is how CrossFit will adjust the points distribution after cuts. It's probable that the scoring table used for the 2019 games will remain nearly the same as the one used in 2021.

This year's field consists of 236 athletes, making it the largest in the history of the CrossFit Games. Major cuts are made at the six initial events. The field then drops to 75 athletes. The top 30 competitors then compete in the sprint couplet to determine which athlete is number ten. From there, the top twenty athletes compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.

Reebok's equipment

Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The Nano X1 are the new shoes. They are made to meet multiple fitness needs. Reebok claims this shoe is "the shoe that will fit all your fitness needs," but it's more like a regular training shoe. The shoe's upper is made from DuPont's Kevlar material, which promotes durability and breathability. The shoes are responsive thanks to the firm midsole and RopePro technology.

CrossFit and Reebok's partnership will end in 2020. Reebok sponsored the Games for more a decade. Now, it is obvious that the company will lessen its involvement. Reebok will no longer sponsor the Games' prize money, but it will continue to manufacture all the athletic apparel and equipment used by athletes, including the Reebok gear. However, the company will no longer refer to itself as the "Reebok CrossFit Games" as it does now.
